The Catholic Institute for Development Justice and Peace (CIDJAP) celebrated a momentous occasion on October 14th, 2023, as they gathered to honour its Founder and President, Msgr. Prof. Obiora Ike. The distinguished scholar was conferred with the most prestigious title in Umana Ndiagu, the title of “Ikenge”, by His Royal Highness Emmanuel Ndu, the Igwe Odera 1 of Umana Ndiagu. The event, held in Umana Ndiagu of Enugu State, was graced by numerous dignitaries and well-wishers.

Msgr. Prof. Obiora Ike, widely recognized for his remarkable contributions to education and development justice, was bestowed with this esteemed title in recognition of his outstanding dedication and commitment to improving society, particularly in the Umana Ndiagu community.

The conferral ceremony was a grand affair, with prominent figures from Enugu State and the surrounding regions in attendance – friends, family, and associates of Msgr. Prof. Obiora Ike gathered to witness the momentous event, underscoring the profound impact he has made in his community and beyond.

Shortly after receiving the title of Ikenge of Umana Ndiagu, Msgr. Prof. Obiora Ike delivered an acceptance speech expressing his gratitude to Igwe Emmanuel Ndu for bestowing this highest honour upon him. He stated, "I am deeply humbled and grateful for this recognition. It is a privilege and an honour to be named Ikenge of Umana Ndiagu. I promise to continue to support and pray for the welfare and progress of this community."

In his address, Msgr. Prof. Obiora Ike encouraged the people of Umana Ndiagu to live in peace and harmony with one another. He emphasized the importance of unity and cooperation for the progress and prosperity of the community. He further pledged his unwavering commitment to working for the development and well-being of the Umana Ndiagu community.
