Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
As we journey through this sacred season of Christmas, my heart is filled with profound joy and gratitude to God for the gift of His Son, Jesus Christ, who came to dwell among us as the Emmanuel—God with us. Christmas is a time of great hope, love, and renewal, a season that reminds us of the boundless mercy and unconditional love of God.
The birth of Christ in Bethlehem over two thousand years ago was not just an event; it was a revelation of God’s immense love for humanity. In that humble manger, surrounded by simplicity and purity, the Savior of the world brought light to our darkness, peace to our strife, and hope to our despair. Today, that same light continues to shine in our lives, calling us to be bearers of love and joy to one another.
As we celebrate this season, let us reflect on the virtues of humility, compassion, and generosity exemplified by Christ. In a world often marred by division, conflict and inequality, Christmas calls us to unite as one family under God. Let us extend a hand of fellowship to the needy, comfort the broken-hearted, and be peacemakers in our homes, communities and nations.
This year, we have faced challenges that have tested our faith and resilience. From global uncertainties to personal trials, the weight of these struggles may have dimmed the spark of hope for many. Yet, Christmas reminds us that in the midst of every difficulty, Christ is our steadfast hope. He assures us of His presence and invites us to trust in His promises.
Let us not forget the essence of this holy season. Beyond the decorations, feasts and gifts lies the true meaning of Christmas—the celebration of God’s gift of salvation to humanity. May this realization inspire us to live lives of purpose, faith, and charity.
As we gather with our families and loved ones during this period, I urge you to pray for peace in our hearts and in the world. Let us remember those who are less fortunate—the sick, the lonely, the displaced and those burdened by grief. May we become channels of God’s love and blessings to them.
Finally, I wish each of you a Merry Christmas filled with God’s abundant grace, peace, and joy. May the light of Christ illuminate your path, guide your decisions, and fill your hearts with lasting happiness. Together, let us walk into the new year with renewed faith, hope, and commitment to building a world where God’s kingdom reigns.
May God bless you abundantly and may His love surround you always.
Merry Christmas!
Yours in Christ,
Msgr. Prof. Obiora Ike
