The internationally renowned scholar and ethicist, Msgr. Prof. Obiora Ike has affirmed his engagement as one of the Keynote Speakers at the 2nd International Conference on Governance, Ethics and Technology (GET2) organised by the Institute of Humanities at Pan-Atlantic University, Lagos, from 5th to 7th of August 2026.
Under the theme “Safeguarding Democracy in Africa: Electoral Integrity, Responsible Citizenship, and the Role of Technology,” the conference will bring together academics, politicians, election officials, civil society workers, and tech gurus to discuss the major facets of democratic governance, such as electoral integrity, diminishing public trust, political polarisation, and the marginalisation of vulnerable groups.
Msgr. Prof. Ike commended the organisers for the clarity of the conference’s thematic focus. He noted that the core topics tackled in the conference resonate strongly with his scholarly expertise and research. He further cited that humans should be held accountable for the impact of technology, as it remains a tool influenced by human competence and choices.
Dr Adaora Onaga, Director of the Institute of Humanities, welcomed the acceptance, pointing out that the thought leadership of Msgr. Prof. Obiora Ike would be an invaluable contribution to strengthening democratic resilience in Africa.
