International Conference on Ethics Education

Scholars and educators from around the world gathered for the 6th International Conference on Ethics Education, held from 3–5 October 2018 under the theme “A Long Walk to Ethics Education.”

Organised by the International Association for Education in Ethics (IAEE) and supported by Globethics.net, the University of South Africa (UNISA), and Tshwane University of Technology, the conference brought together more than 149 participants from over 30 universities worldwide.

Representatives of the partner institutions delivered keynote addresses highlighting the growing importance of ethics in education systems globally. Globethics.net Director Obiora Ike presented on “The Imperative of Values-Based Formation for Future Leaders: African and Global Perspectives for Action,” emphasizing the urgent need to shape leadership through strong ethical foundations.

In addition to his keynote, Ike led a master class addressing unethical practices in higher education, focusing on fraud, plagiarism, and examination malpractice. He also introduced Globethics.net’s four core programmes, explaining how they support institutions in embedding ethics systematically into academic structures and governance.
