Call for Papers / Festschrifts in Honour of Prof. Dr. Monsignor Obiora Francis Ike

Prof. Ike received his priestly formation and academic trainings at several institutions in Nigeria and abroad which include All Hallows Seminary, Onitsha; St John Cross Seminary, Nsukka; Bigard Memorial Seminary, Enugu, Nigeria; Collegium Cannisianum, Innsbruck, Austria; Leopold Franzens University, Innsbruck, Austria; University of London, England; University of Paris, Sorbonne, France; Centre For International Studies, Dubrovnik, Croatia; and the Friedrich Wilhelms University, Bonn, Germany. He obtained his doctorate in 1985 from the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms University, Bonn, Germany. He is currently a Professor of Ethics and Intercultural Studies at the Godfrey Okoye University in Enugu State, Nigeria.

The impact of his scholarship cuts across Africa, Europe, North America, and the rest of the global community. The depth of his work, especially in the broad areas of Ethics, Intercultural Studies, Social Justice, Theology, Philosophy, Journalism, and International Diplomacy, is attested to by his current position as the Executive Director of the United Nations-based Global Ethics Centre, Geneva, Switzerland. He is also the Founding Director of the Catholic Institute of Development, Justice, Peace and Caritas (CIDJAP), Enugu, Nigeria; Chairman of the Enugu State Economic Advisory Committee, and recently, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Plateau State University, Jos, Nigeria.

He is a priest, teacher, scholar, writer, administrator, and professor with several years of teaching experience. He has presented more than ninety (90) papers in academic, religious, and professional fora locally and internationally. He has to his credit well over 22 peer-reviewed journal articles, 29 book chapters, and 18 books.

As a priest, scholar, and teacher, Prof Ike has taught and mentored many priests and students at Catholic Seminaries and Universities in Austria, Germany, the United States, and Nigeria. In all of these places and others not mentioned, he contributed greatly to expanding the frontiers of knowledge.

A Festschrift in honour of this revered priest, scholar, diplomat, administrator, and gentleman will no doubt afford authors the rare opportunity to contribute to the fields of interest of Prof Ike and thereby further expand the dialogue of Prof Ike’s areas of expertise.
