The meeting/training was moderated by Collins Ogbu, a staff of Caritas Nigeria Abuja, with two other teammates.
He stated that the Strategic Plan document determines an organisation’s pillar, goals, and mission vision for five years. It takes cognizance of the changing environment to plan for the future, and it is usually a document of 25 to 30 pages. Planning is very good because it provides a common goal, sets direction, helps one to gain commitment, enables managers and leaders to make informed decisions and determines how resources will be used.
The strategic plan’s major elements are assessing the current environment, vision and mission, strategy, goals and objectives, action plans, implementation, evaluation and modification.
Later on, the staff used SWOT analysis to evaluate CIDJAP. Stephen Chukwudi Chinweolu gave a talk on “Occupational Safety and Protection.” Other topics that were touched on include: How to prevent injury in the workplace, hazard identification, risk assessment, fundraising strategy, intervention portfolio, plans and interventions, knowledge management and proposal writing.
A strategic plan was developed with him on CIDJAP and on some major CIDJAP Projects using the staff’s SWOT analysis.
