The 38th Anniversary of the Catholic Institute for Development, Justice, and Peace (CIDJAP) was marked with a day of reflection, thanksgiving, and celebration, showcasing the institute's achievements over nearly four decades of service to the community. The event brought together beneficiaries, supporters, staff, and clergy to celebrate CIDJAP's commitment to social justice, development, and peacebuilding in Nigeria.

Holy Mass (9:00 am):
The event began with a solemn Holy Mass celebrated by the Auxiliary Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Most Rev. Ernest Obodo. In his homily, Bishop Obodo praised CIDJAP for its tireless efforts to lift the marginalized and foster peace in communities across Nigeria. He emphasized that CIDJAP'swork embodies the teachings of the Catholic Church on social justice and called on all present to continue supporting its mission. The Kolanut is a symbolic gesture representing hospitality and blessings. The kola nut, a cherished element of Igbo culture, was then shared among the dignitaries and guests.

Lecture: The Influence of Popular Culture and Media on the Rise of Neopaganism Among Southeast Christian Population
The formal program continued with an enlightening lecture by Dr. Stella Ugwu, a renowned scholar. Her presentation, "The Influence of Popular Culture and Media on the Rise of Neopaganism Among Southeast Christian Population", explored the growing trend of neopagan practices within the region's Christian communities. Dr. Ugwu linked the rise of these practices to the pervasive influence of modern media and popular culture, which often promote alternative spiritual beliefs. Her thought-provoking analysis called for the Church and civil society organizations like CIDJAP to continue proactively guiding the youth and reinforcing Christian values amid these cultural shifts.

Reactions, Questions, and Answers:
The lecture was followed by an interactive session inviting participants to share their thoughts, ask questions, and offer reactions. Audience members expressed concern over the challenges posed by modern media and discussed ways to counter the spread of neopagan ideas. The session allowed for a meaningful exchange of ideas, with suggestions on incorporating media literacy into CIDJAP's outreach programs to empower young people to engage with popular culture critically.

Testimonials from CIDJAP Beneficiaries:
One of the most touching moments of the anniversary celebration came during the testimonials from CIDJAP beneficiaries. Individuals who had received various forms of assistance from the institute—from legal aid to education scholarships and healthcare—shared their personal stories of transformation. These testimonials were a powerful testament to CIDJAP's impact on the lives of countless individuals and communities. Beneficiaries spoke with gratitude and pride, acknowledging how CIDJAP had helped them overcome hardship and restore their dignity.

Cutting of the Anniversary Cake and Toast:
The celebratory mood continued with cutting the anniversary cake, a symbol of CIDJAP's 38 years of service. The cake, adorned with CIDJAP's colour, was cut by the management team and key stakeholders amid cheers and applause from the audience.

Cultural Dance:
A cultural dance performance added colour and vibrancy to the celebration. Local dancers, adorned in traditional attire, took to the stage to perform an energetic routine showcasing the Igbo culture's rich cultural heritage. The dance was a joyful tribute to the anniversary, blending tradition with the spirit of celebration.

Refreshment:
The event continued with refreshments as guests enjoyed a variety of local delicacies and drinks. The atmosphere was camaraderie and festivity as attendees mingled and shared stories of their experiences with CIDJAP over the years.
