The Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Bishop Dr Callistus C.V. Onaga, has reappointed Msgr. Prof. Dr Obiora Francis Ike as the Director of the Catholic Institute of Development, Justice, Peace and Caritas (CIDJAP) with effect from February 2022. This was contained in a gazetted posting for the Diocese released on 22 January 2022.
Msgr. Obiora Ike takes over from Rev. Fr. Dr Donatus Onuigbo who served as Director from 2020 to January 2022.
Msgr. Ike is the Founding Director of CIDJAP having pioneered it from its inception in 1986 to 2016. He along with the venerable and Saintly Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Enugu, late Bishop Michael Eneja, formed CIDJAP and he has helped grow CIDJAP locally and internationally.
Msgr. Ike after leaving CIDJAP in 2016 immediately went on to serve as the Executive Director of the Geneva-based leading Foundation for Global Ethics "Globethics.net" www.globethics.net in ECOSOC Status of the United Nations. He continues to serve at Globethics.net in this capacity, as well as his appointment since 2021 as Pro-chancellor and Chairman of Council of the Plateau State University Bokkos.
A high profile personality and resource person constantly in-demand, Prof Ike teaches Ethics at Godfrey Okoye University and serves since 2015 as the Chairman of the Enugu State Government Economic Advisory Committee alongside other dignitaries.
