On Tuesday, 8th October 2024, Very Reverend Monsignor Prof. Dr Obiora Ike, a distinguished academic, social justice advocate, and Founding Executive Director of the Catholic Institute for Development, Justice, and Peace (CIDJAP), was inducted into the Enugu State Hall of Fame. The prestigious event, which took place at the Amadeo Event Centre in Enugu, recognised his impactful exceptional contributions to ethical leadership, mentorship of many, humble humanitarian services and pioneering works in human capital and social development over the past 38 years.
The induction ceremony was attended by a host of dignitaries, including Federal, State and Local government officials, religious leaders, academics, and community members. Monsignor Ike's inclusion in the AMADEO Hall of Fame marks a significant acknowledgement of his tireless efforts in advancing justice, peace, and development concerns in the local, national and global contexts.
In his acceptance speech, Professor Dr Obiora Ike expressed humble gratitude for the recognition, dedicating the honour to the Catholic Church and the many individuals and communities who have supported his mission. He emphasised the ongoing need for ethical leadership, calling on leaders to prioritise integrity and community service in their efforts. In his words, "everything is a gift seen from the light of faith. Every gift is a call. Every call is an opportunity. Every opportunity is a challenge. Every challenge has its pains and crosses. But the cross is victory and life".
