Introduction: The CIDJAP workshop on "Values-Driven Quality Health Care Services in Mission Hospitals—The Challenge" was a significant event that aimed to enhance the quality of healthcare services in mission hospitals through a values-based approach. The workshop featured a comprehensive program that brought together key stakeholders from various mission hospitals and orphanages.
Opening Formalities: The workshop commenced with opening formalities, led by Rev. Fr. Chidiebere Paul Ani, who initiated the session with prayers, invoking divine guidance and blessings for its success. Following the prayers, Rev. Fr. Ani delivered a brief opening address, emphasizing the importance of aligning healthcare services with core values that reflect the mission of the hospitals.
Reading of Minute: Ikenna David read the minutes of the previous meeting, providing a recap of the discussions and resolutions from the last session. This helped set the stage for the current workshop, ensuring continuity in the deliberations.
Introduction of Participants: Participants were then introduced, and each representative from the various hospitals and orphanages was allowed to briefly state their name and the institution they represented. This was followed by a warm welcome from Fr. Paul Ani.
Presentation: Chris Amalu, the workshop's anchor, delivered a presentation on "Value-Driven Quality Health Care Services in Mission Hospitals." He highlighted the critical role of values in shaping the delivery of healthcare services, particularly in mission hospitals, where ethical considerations are paramount.
Intervention/Reports from Hospitals and Orphanages:
* Ukamaka Cottage Hospital: Dr. Sunday Oge presented the report, focusing on the hospital's efforts to integrate values into patient care and the challenges faced in maintaining high standards of service.
* Avemaria Eye Clinic: Sr. Dr. Stella Onwubiko reported on the clinic's initiatives to ensure that quality eye care services are provided in line with the hospital's mission-driven values.
* Misericordia Hospital: Sr. Dr. Cleopatra presented the hospital's report, discussing the impact of value-driven care on patient outcomes and staff morale.
* St. Clara Hospital: Sr. Veronica shared insights into how the hospital has been upholding its mission values in the face of limited resources.
* Aru Ike Ndi Oria: Sr. Bridget reported on the challenges and successes in delivering compassionate care at the hospital.
* Orphanages:
- Guardian Angels Motherless Babies Home (GAMB): Sr. Martin provided an update on the orphanage's efforts to care for the children, emphasizing the importance of values in nurturing the young.
- Holy Child Motherless Babies Home: Sr. Gloria reported on the orphanage's activities and how values have guided their care practices.
Reactions and Resolutions: Msgr. Prof. Obiora Ike led the session on reactions and resolutions. Participants engaged in a robust discussion, sharing their thoughts on the presentations and reports. The session concluded with the adoption of resolutions aimed at reinforcing the integration of values in healthcare services across the mission hospitals and orphanages.

Lunch and Departure: Following the closing formalities, participants enjoyed lunch and a transport allowance and engaged in informal discussions before departing.
